Cancer in The Family Ann

In 1989 after bleeding for over a year and just having a week clear I had a hysterectomy because they found that I had cancer of the womb after the operation,  I went once a week to the specialize because he was not satisfied because he told me that he could feel something so he then sent me up for a x-ray which they found that I had cancer of my right kidney and that it had to be removed right away.

When my Dr. told me about this, it was not long after I had the first cancer operation I was beside by myself,  so I walked home crying my eyes out, I had no one with me to talk to about it.  Why I had no one with me was because I did not know what the Dr. was about to tell me and I did not think to phone my husband, to pick me up.

Lung cancer – causes, symptoms, treatment, prevention

Lung cancer is a malignant lung disease primarily caused by cigarette smoking. It often has no obvious symptoms until the disease is quite advanced, and has a low rate of survival. Treatment for lung cancer mainly involves surgery and chemotherapy, while radiation therapy and targeted drug therapies may also be used.
Lung cancer results from abnormal growth of cells in the lining of the lungs, leading to the growth of a malignant tumour.

Prevention of Cervical Cancer: A Guide for Women in New Zealand

Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable of all cancers. Cervical cancer is caused by certain types of the human papillomavirus (HPV), a very common virus passed on by sexual contact. Most people will come into contact with HPV at some stage during their life. Most HPV infections clear by themselves, but some high-risk types can cause cell changes on the cervix that may lead to cervical cancer 10 to 20 years after infection.
Other types can cause genital warts, but these strains do not lead to cancer. A woman’s best protection against developing cervical cancer is having regular cervical smear tests. A cervical smear test is a screening test to find abnormal changes in the cells of the cervix. HPV testing may sometimes be carried out to see if certain high-risk types of HPV are present in the cervix. This helps to define the risk of cervical cancer.

Cancer services to 2025 in New Zealand—investing in research-driven quality care

Cancer is the leading cause of death in New Zealand, and is likely to be the defining health issue of the next decade. Cancer incidence increases with age and with our ‘baby boomers’ now turning 70 the total number of people with cancer is moving higher than ever.
In 2010, the Ministry of Health predicted that incident cancers would rise by 29% for males and 12% for females—by 2016.1 Primary prevention and well health strategies that are generally common to cardiovascular disease, diabetes and cancer are vitally important, but will not begin to impact on the age-related burden cancer will bring over the next 30 years.

Cannabis Oil Cures 3 Year Old Boy Of Cancer After Doctors ...

A young boy named Landon Riddle was diagnosed with Leukemia, and was told by his doctors that he only had an 8-10% chance of living for more than a day or two.
His whole chest was full of leukemia tumors, which is why he couldn’t breathe. They started him on chemo, but told us that he probably wasn’t going to make it,” his mother, Sierra Riddle said.
After two months of Chemotherapy, Landon became sick and would refuse to eat. According to his mother, he would vomit up to 50 times a day, and the doctors eventually lost hope, seeing no other solution than Chemotherapy.

Skin cancer. DermNet NZ

The majority of skin cancer can be prevented by careful sun protection, including sunscreens, from an early age. Taking nicotinamide (vitamin B3) can reduce the numbers of nonmelanoma skin cancers. Skin cancers are detected early by regular self skin examination and skin checks by a trained health practitioner. Mole mapping and dermoscopy may be of benefit to those with many or atypical moles.
People who have had a nonmelanoma or keratinocyte skin cancer (BCC or SCC) are at increased risk of further skin cancer, melanoma and internal cancers in the future. This risk is particularly marked in younger people and in people that have any form of immune deficiency or immune suppression.

CanTeen | Supporting young people living with cancer

An eye twitch at just two years old led to five long months of tests and scans for Eilish. Years of treatment for Optic and Hypothalamic Glioma has meant she’s missed a lot of school and felt very isolated from people her own age.
Today, although living with significant side effects including blindness caused by her tumour, Eilish is embracing life with her fellow CanTeeners and is hopeful for her future.

Cancer My Husband Brian

My husband Brian was to go through many a cancer operation on his face, hands and body, this started in the 1990s on his lip and then it was his forehead twice, the first one was a little one. I was outside the room, when I saw the Dr. come out, he was all covered in blood so I asked him how Brian was and he told me OK, but I had to see Brian for myself and then Brian came walking out and said “Come on now home we go.”
He told me that he was put into twilight sleep and that when they went over the parts which they had not numb, it really hurt him and he was to go back again because they had not got it all. So one month later Brain was called to go up to the hospital for the next operation and I made sure that I was there, I told them that they had to put Brain out to it and that they did not have to listen to Brian telling me about hearing the cuts and seeing all the blood when the Dr. accidentally cut the wrong artery. Brian saw all the blood and told me that it came out like a hose. I told them that they were not going to put my husband through that again.
